In 2021, we looked at the ASUS TUF Z590 gaming motherboard, one of Intel’s latest Z590 chipset boards for the 11th Gen Processor(and it supported the 10th Gen processors). Well, ASUS is back with another motherboard the ASUS TUF Z790-Plus WIFI D4 gaming motherboard, a Z790 chipset board that supports 12th and 13th Gen Processors.
The ASUS TUF Z790-Plus is a DDR4 motherboard, which is excellent for gamers that are looking to upgrade and keep the costs a bit down (by reusing their DDR4 ram). What this entails TUF Z790-Plus also gives you is PCIe 5.0(very similar to the Z590 that gave PCIe4.0).
As with most of the WiFi6 boards that you get on the market you also get Bluetooth 5.2 on the Z790-Plus. On the wired side, you can look forward to Intel’s 2.5Gb chipset and it also has the Legendary TUF Languard installed. The TUF LAN Guard helps with that small bit of static that can fry a LAN port (it has happened to me before).

When it comes to power delivery on the motherboard, ASUS has gone with the standard four plus eight power connectors. I do suspect that by next year we might have two eight-pin connectors instead of the normal ones, this is all due to the power needs of CPUs and M.2 drives. ASUS also has heatshields on all the M.2 slots to help with heat management.
Overall I’m pleased with the TUF Z790-Plus WiFi D4 gaming motherboard, it has everything for most gamers need on a budget to use the latest technology. It has PCIe5.0, WiFi6 and even USB3.2 ports (lots of them). At R5999 MSRP it is not that expensive motherboard to get.
