Wipeout is one of the most profound racing games that came out in 1995. It changed the racing genre, produced something fresh and arguably gave PlayStation a name.
Since then, Wipeout has brought us 9 games with Wipeout Omega Collection being the 10th release. Wipeout Omega includes two original title Wipeout HD and Wipeout 2048, it also includes the expansion Wipeout HD Fury.
With this collection, remastered for the PS4 you get 9 game modes. Zone, Tournament, Speed Lap, Time Trial, Zone Battle, Eliminator, Detonator, Single Race and Career Mode from Wipeout 2048. Along with these game modes there are 26 tracks and 46 different ship models. Racebox has also been introduced for all the modes which adds some great versatility.
The game looks amazing, the graphics are breath taking when you can actually slow down enough to look at it. The gameplay works well and there is enough options and switches to suite everyone’s need. There is also a great soundtrack on the game with 28 licensed songs to enhance the racing experience in a race.
Wipeout is always fun and I’m glad that even though this is kind of a re-release it has great content and will keep you very busy. Welcome Wipeout to HD, 4K and the PS4 family!
