We Look at: Skyrim on Nintendo Switch

Time to shout Fus Ro Dah into your Nintendo Switch as Skyrim has arrived!

Skyrim is probably the most re-released game of the modern game age. It was first released in November of 2011 on PC, 360 and PS3 and was followed with game of the year versions and also remastered versions on the PS4 and Xbox One. Now it is freshly released on the Nintendo Switch and there is also a PSVR version.

Skyrim is a great game and it proves it by being successful with every release and rather than me spending time on talking about re-releasing games and all the remastered game we have received the past two years, I will rather talk about Skyrim on the Nintendo Switch.

The Nintendo Switch had an amazing release year and they made it possible by having a big release every month, and in November they tripled that by having 3 great games being released, Doom, LA Noire and Skyrim. I enjoyed Skyrim the first time around and was eager to try it on the Switch.

I was really shocked at how well the game runs, even in the mobile/tablet mode. It plays as if the game was created for the console and not just a port. The switch version also has some differences like the support of amiiboes and some motion controls with the Joy-Cons. With the Amiibo functionality you can use a Link amiibo to have a magical chest appear in the game full of goodies, and you can do this once per day. If you play with the Joy-Cons detached, you can swing your arms to perform attacks instead of using the ZL or ZR buttons. This is a cool feature to have and if you have the right environment can make the gameplay quite active.

The game also includes Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn which is a cool bonus and adds hours of extra gameplay. I know it is not cool have re-release games and having to fork out money for games you already played or own on a different platform but I’m enjoying Skyrim so much on the Switch that I will happily pay again to be able to experience it.

Skyrim is a great game and although there has been a lot of fun made about the dragon shouts and some gameplay glitches over the year, it is still a must play game. This is a must have game on the Nintendo Switch for me.
