Sleek and sexy seems to be the order of everyday.
The Sony Xperia M5 is the new “it thing” these days as with most of the new technology out there. This sleek and sexy design will make your heart skip a beat for this bad boy. The M series from Sony is aimed for the mid-range market meaning that it has great features but is still not top notch like the Z range. Although it is in the mid-range market it still has a hefty price of about R8k, but the features that this phone has makes it better than some top range phones out there.
Some of the features include the phone being water resistant and dust proof, the rear camera is an epic 21.5 Megapixels and the front 13 Megapixels. It also has a dual sim option, an octa core CPU, 3GB RAM memory and 16GB of internal storage. It can take a micro SD card to extend the memory and also be aware that it does take a nano sim. It also records 4K HD video and has the Mobile Bravia Engine 2 built-in.
Those are some epic features to have for a mid-range phone but as I said for me it actually borders on being a top-range phone. The display area is 5 inches which is kind of standard these days and the battery can last up to 2 days depending on usage and what you use the phone for. The Sony Xperia M5 gets released with Android 5 OS software; so for Android users, it will be a breeze to use.
The M5 also has some great Apps that you can use to further enhance and edit photos taken with the great front and rear cameras. For the selfie lovers, the front camera supports HDR and has Exmor RS that will brighten up those photos with vivid colours and super sharp detail.
The phone feels elegant and robust with curved edges that softens the look of being too rigid. The M5 charges via Mini USB as with most phones these days and you get the usual USB cable/charger included in the box. Apart from that you also get earphones, but that is it, nothing extra. It would be nice if phone manufacturers get a little creative and start to add a little something extra to their phones in the boxes just for that extra appeal.
The battery cannot be taken out which can be a pro and a con these days, I prefer a battery that you can take out but that is more a personal thing. Because the battery is internal and there is no back cover that can open this makes the phone more dust proof, so for certain features some sacrifices do need to be made.
This is definitely a phone worth taking a look at if it makes it into your budget region, it has the features, look and feel to compete against other top-range phones but on the down side it also comes with that price. I Loved playing around with the Sony Xperia M5 and it is going to be a bit sad going back to my old, almost 2 years old, phone.
