O no your favorite sock has been eaten by the cursed washing machine! Who will be able to save your favorite sock? Supersock can! Or whichever name you would want to give your heroic sock to venture forth into the dangerous washing machine.
This 2D platform game is as silly as it is frustrating from being shot through the air by magnets, to hopping around on detergent blocks to help you get past hazardous terrain to help the kid retrieve his socks.
With over 200 levels you will not be limited to only being able to jump, you will also be able to dash, stomp, double jump and hang onto ledges. Of course, with any Platform game it can leave you frustrated yet you refuse to give up until you have passed the level.
By touching a surface, it resets both your dash and double jump abilities which comes in handy later on in the game where platforms start moving, lasers start closing in on you from the ground up, and weak surfaces breaking. Some Coins are also placed accordingly to help you get through the levels. If you do still feel like you are struggling they have also added an extra checkpoint feature under settings so that if you do fail at a puzzle, you would not have to start from the beginning again.
With Sockventure there is no little evil critters you can kill by jumping on their heads such as in game like Mario Brothers, but it still stays an enjoyable game as you get dialogs from the sock engaging in conversation with the kid as he finds socks or clears a chapter.
As you collect the Kid’s socks you can change the sock of which your supersock wears during his adventures as you progress through the washing machine, if you want to play these games in a more serious way by competing against other, the game does have an Global leaderboard for each chapter where you can compete to be the best supersock! I myself would most likely not participate in this as I am very proud of my 200 death achievement.
Final Thoughts: The game does not only entertain and frustrates, but even gives you an achievement for dying too much which helps one to calm down and laugh about how much you are struggling in this game. Some players might end up spending a lot of time on the chapters because of the leaderboard that is in game for each chapter, looking forward to what Nighthouse Games has in store for the game as it progresses through the Early Access phase.
