Any gamer that grew up in the 80’s and 90’s will remember the Sega Megadrive or Genesis console. For us it meant no longer having to spend a whole Saturday at the corner Café on arcade machine and spend our savings on them. Instead now we could play in the comfort of our livings rooms, when ever we were allowed to ;p

The Sega Megadrive collection was first released on PC in 2010 and in volumes from 1 to 5. In May 2018 it was finally released on PS4 and Xbox One and in December for the Nintendo Switch. Instead of releasing it in volumes as on the PC, the released everything in one batch. Some games differ between the versions but nothing to erratic.

It is a huge list and some really cool games included there.

The menu is done well, where it looks like a 80/90’s bedroom with an old CRT TV with the console below. You can browse around the room and can go into different menu items like setting the clock, setting emulator options or checking feats and challenges. The main stuff you will want to check is the game library shelf. Here you can browse the entire selection of games, once you have chosen your game the cartridge then gets inserted into the console and your are taken to the TV to enjoy.

The games runs as they would on other emulators and you have some extra options as well like quick save/load and fast forwarding the game or even rewind. It is a lot of fun and it has a lot of nostalgic appeal.

The Sega Megadrive collection is a great game to have on your Nintendo Switch as now you can carry the old classic wherever you go. The game is also not priced at a triple A rate which is great.
