Second Extinction Review

Choosing one of 4 Operators to push back the mutated Dinosaurs from taking over the world, you along with your friends needs to completing Missions either Solo or Co-op to drive them back and take the land which once was ours.

For a game based on not just the return of Dinosaurs but Mutated Dinosaurs from the Velociraptors to the Mighty T Rex, you have to embark on this Dangerous world as part of the ERA to fight back the Mutation by completing missions, or if you would prefer a more free-roaming type FPS one could select the Exploration option from the Menu, and fear not, there is a party search option as well, however, from personal experience because of the game still being in Early Access the Servers are not so busy therefore you might wait a while to get your crew together.

Along with the 4 operators you get to choose from each will have their unique weapons and abilities to assist you on your expeditions, every action in the game as either a positive or negative reaction, from dying to the Dinosaurs after your 3x Respawns have been used would cause the Threat to push back, and completing objectives would push the area more into your favour, becoming less dangerous to venture into.

From Personal experience certain objectives are extremely difficult to tackle alone so playing this with teammates would help your fight against the Mutation, bear in mind that certain operators would fare better against certain types of Dinosaurs, for example, if you would run into an Ankylosaurus, he is covered in armour which normal weapons are not able to penetrate, this is where the Operator with the grenade launcher shines as he can get damage done on his Belly which is his weak point, each big Dinosaur which tends to spawn on Missions as the “Boss fight” will have 1 weakness which is in blue, usually the throat or belly, These Dinosaurs take barely if any damage when shot anywhere else except for their weak spots.

Even though the Dinosaurs would be considered as Natural Enemies, Herbivores and Carnivores would not think twice to team up against you so ensure you have your ammo full, equipment checked and Stims ready for those mid-fight “pick me ups”.

Final Thoughts: This is a game you enjoy more as you progress and start to better understand the operators and Dinosaurs along with their weaknesses. The amount of Blood and Gore was not expected when starting the game but would recommend for friends to play together.

Good

  • Tons of Gore
  • Fun with friends

Bad

  • Objectives can be difficult playing solo
  • Not a big variety of species

Lover of MOBAs and FPS type games, very competitive type player who enjoys games that also has some complexity added to them, would spend hours on end farming on a game such as Warframe, BDO, Elite Dangerous or any other game in that line.
