… the rAge that was ….

rAge 2013 …. What an experience ….

This year’s rAge expo took place at The Coca-Cola Dome during the week-end of 4 – 6 October 2013. It was a week-end jam packed with gaming, cosplay, collectibles and everything else gaming related that you can think of. It was also my first year going to rAge as part of the GES-SA team and I was excited to experience it from a media perspective. And in the end, I wasn’t disappointed.

I went to rAge on the Friday afternoon and on the Sunday so I’ll admit that I didn’t get to experience the Saturday madness but for me it was actually better to go to the expo on the quieter days. On the Friday afternoon there were ample opportunities to try out your skills on the new gaming titles and we got to see the new gaming consoles up close. If you are keen on playing the new titles, I would definitely recommend you visit rAge during the Friday session.

Expo visitors had ample space to move amongst the stalls

I was very impressed to see that they have opened up the space to accommodate the growing numbers of visitors to the expo. Unfortunately it meant that there were fewer stalls to peruse than last year but overall it made for a better expo experience. The queues at the food stands were also more manageable (during the Friday and Sunday sessions) and in general the venue felt cooler and less stuffy.

What the expo looked like from the media balcony

The big win for me was perfect cellphone signal throughout the venue with various Wi-Fi hotspots placed throughout the Dome. This meant that we could upload pictures to social media as things were happening and I loved sharing exciting happenings to our Facebook and Twitter pages.

Gaming enthusiasts in awe of the new gaming titles

Well done to NAG and the rest of the organizers on a job well done, we had a blast visiting the expo this year. Now, when did you say rAge 2014 was happening???
