The peeps over at Razer sent me the Razer Blackshark V2 Pro(2023) headsets to review when I mentioned that I was looking to upgrade my current headset (Kyle(our Games editor) had a look at the Blackshark V2 X a while back).
The Blackshark V2 Pro is the premium version of the Blackshark lineup. It is slightly heavier than the V2 HyperX at 320g because of the headset’s premium nature and an RRP of R4899. It also comes in a White and Black colour, a foam headband, and foam ear cushions. This already makes the Balckshark V2 Pro a very comfortable headset to wear when playing games.

When it comes to the Driver for the Blackshar V2 Pro you are getting a nice big 50mm Razer Triforce Titanium driver(the same that is on the Blackshark V2 Hyperspeed). You can hear every little thing when playing games, I tested the headset while playing the new season of Diablo 4.
I also ran my usual tests with some FLAC songs that push most headsets to the max and I can say that Misty Mountains Cold from The Hobbit sounded just like it does on the Reference headsets I am trying to replace. I also played Eric Kunzel’s The Great Fantasy Adventure Album, especially tracks 3, 5 and 19. These tracks are engineered for surround stereo sound(weird I know….but so good), from the crunch of the T-Rex eating to the snap of the Bowstring the Blackshark V2 Pro reproduces it flawlessly.

The Blackshark V2 Pro also supports THX Spatial sound, I have tried this as well with some of the songs(above) and it seems to enhance certain types of music and if you play games you will get the effect as well. The other thing the Blackshark V2 Pro has on the physical unit is an FPS, which gives you preset profiles for Most FPS games(to bring out the best in the game Audio).
When Comes to battery life you can look at about 65-70 hours out of the unit, intense sessions might bring it down to about 50 hours but for me, this is still great. The reception as well on the Wireless was excellent, as I could even walk out onto the stoep(that is about 10m from my desk with thick walls in the way).
Overall I am impressed with the Razer Blackshark V2 Pro, it has great battery life and excellent sound. My only complaint would be the price tag(in South Africa), but this can’t be helped from the distributor side.
