Fans of the original X-Men film trilogy unite! After months of teasing and playing coy, Patrick Stewart confirms his return to the X-Men movie universe.
While many had speculated that Patrick Stewart would return in some fashion to the role of Professor Xavier in the as-yet untitled ‘Wolverine 3’ film, there was still room for doubt, especially after what seemed like a fitting send off for his older version of Xavier in 2014’s ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’.
Fan interested was however once again peaked late last year when Stewart commented:
“I understand that Professor Xavier will be making more than an appearance, however, and that intrigues me.”
Now however, any doubts can be put to rest as Stewart has officially spilt the beans on his Twitter account, leaving no doubt that he will appear in the film alongside the returning Hugh Jackman, although the extent of his role remains to be seen.

With the plot heavily rumoured to be based on the ‘Old Man Logan’ limited series published by Marvel several years ago, it will be interesting to see exactly how Professor Xavier will factor into things.
