MSI Z270

MSI Z270 motherboards – Eye Candy and performance for your PC!

At CES 2017 this year MSI launched their new Z270 motherboard range, and boy do they look awesome! They even got an Innovation award for their Z270 Gaming M7 board. So what is so the difference between the Z170 and the new Z270 chipset? Well for starters the Z270 can actually take up to 3 Turbo M.2 SSD drives, it also supports Intel’s new Optane technology! The other feature that MSI came out with for the M.2 is called an M.2 Shield. This is a heat shield specifically made for your M.2 and it is said that it can bring down the M.2’s temperature(we will give this a test in the coming months). Another innovative feature that MSI has on their Z270 boards is a small little chip call VR. Boost, this chip gives a clean signal to a dedicated USB port for your VR headset.

Another returning feature on these boards is the Mystic Lights. 16.8 million colours and it also have 17 effects that you can cycle trough, but that is not all that you can do with Mystic lights. The guys at MSI also added RGB 4pin headers(Called Mystic Light Extensions) on the board so that you can control your cases RGB light components without buying a separate controller. Msi also included on their boards the Audio Boost 4 chipsets which also includes Nahimic 2. This gives you the highest quality audio. The last two features that are awesome on these boards is MSI’s Lightning USB 3.1 Gen2, what these bad boys do is boost your USB 3.1 performance by almost double the speed of their competitors! This is all thanks to the ASmedia 2142 chipset and some voodoo magic software developed by MSI called the X-Boost. This X-boost software also helps with your DDR4 ram, with X-boost switched on for your DDR4 you can get up to 20% more speed out of your ram. This also would boost your game performance, so win-win for everybody!

I can’t wait to bench test some of these boards as even the design of them is out of this world and would make awesome additions to custom cases!
