Monster Energy Supercross – The Official Videogame 4 Review

Milestone is back with another edition of their well-made supercross game “Monster Energy Supercross – The Official Videogame 4

Supercross 4 builds on what you loved about supercross 3 and makes it better. Starting off with the game modes, They kept most of the modes from Supercross 3 that you are familiar with and have expanded on them in ways that in my opinion add to the supercross experience. The career mode has been expanded and now features More than 100 real riders, making it the largest number of riders from the 450SX and 250SX East and West ever in the franchise! You’ll also find all 11 stadiums and 17 tracks of the 2020 season, including 7 Salt Lake City variants. There are over 20 official teams, and the game even features the voice of Ralph Sheheen, the lead commentator of Feld Entertainment’s AMA Supercross Championship. They have also added a supercross compound which makes for a welcome addition to the game. In this freeroam compound, you can mess around, work on your riding skills and let yourself freeroam with friends. The game itself feels alot harder for newcomers than Supercross 3, but they also have added a rewind feature to the game, letting you rewind those jumps you might not have taken as perfectly as you would have liked. Its a nice counterbalance to the game.

Graphics wise the game looks absolutely brilliant on the PS5 and is a big improvement over supercross 3. The bikes themselves leave trails and ditches in the ground, which makes gameplay more immersive aswell. The only thing i didnt like is the fact that the camera is alot closer to your rider, This makes races where riders are bunched up, hard to get out of, This also hinders your peripheral vision quite a bit especially when cornering. Hopefully this gets resolved in a future update. The game has also added a photo mode, which looks absolutely fantastic when taking pictures of your rider in the air.

With regards to audio, The bikes sounds have been improved quite a bit and the bikes sound noticeably distinct from one another. The soundtrack is also really good and hypes up the gameplay alot. The game commentator is also absolutely enthustiastic and adds alot of hype to your gameplay.

  • Audio update is amazing
  • PS5 Graphics are stunning
  • Alot of riders and tracks have been added to the game
  • Rewind function is a lifesaver.

  • Game has a STEEP learning curve.
  • Not welcoming to Newbies to the Supercross fandom.
