2D meets 3D in this epic role playing adventure, the Paper Mario universe gets pulled into the 3D realm of Super Mario.
Good and bad counterparts meet and of course the two Bowsers kidnap Princess Peach and Paper Peach, so Mario, Luigi and Paper Mario set off to the rescue!
I didn’t think I would like this game as much as I do, the RPG elements are nicely tied to the game mechanics and it has some tactical elements to the battles. The game looks amazing when the 3D is turned on, on your 3DS and although the story has been done before; where the Princess gets kidnapped; bringing the Paper Mario world into the game is a great idea and it brings some surprises along with it.
There are fantastic levels to explore and challenges to sink your teeth in, getting power ups and equipment for your team to make them stronger and also a unique amiibo ability. In the game you will come across amiibo cards, the cards you can assign to a registered amiibo and it will give you a unique ability with that amiibo. It added a little extra to the gameplay and I just wanted to check all the amiibo abilities out. The only thing that confused me a little about this feature was that I could not use an Amiibo that already had data on it. It was a little disappointing not to be able to use an Amiibo that I already use with other games, as I do not want to lose any progress with an Amiibo but then again its always easy getting back to a point.
It is fun to see your characters grow in power and abilities and perform great feats in battle, some QTE events with team up power ups are always fun to perform and the ultimate trio attack for an ultimate bashing.
If you are a fan of the Pokémon game style you will definitely love this adventure and of course any Mario fan will also fall in Love with this great title.
