Magic

We really enjoyed this movie although it didn't reach the entertainment levels of Magic Mike. I guess the novelty wore off over the years. Killer soundtrack. Nontheless, great movie for a Friday night sleepover with your girlfriends

In 2012 the entertainment industry gifted ladies all over the world with the instant blockbuster Magic Mike. Featuring an all-star cast lead by Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey, the dramedy set box-offices and ladies hearts on fire. Almost immediately after the release of the first movie, Magic Mike XXL was announced and we had to wait 3 years to see what happened to Mike’s dreams of owning his own furniture making business. This second outing of Mike and his crew are now available to own on DVD and Blu-Ray.

Synopsis

Three years after he bowed out of the stripper life, Mike (Channing Tatum) finds himself longing for the thrill of being the stripper king of Tampa. When he finds out his former crew is heading to Myrtle Beach to give one last blow out performance at a major stripper convention, he decides to join them and they set off on an epic adventure, like only a bunch of hot male strippers can have.

The Review

Look, let’s call a spade a spade. This is not the type of movie that will ever win Oscars or Golden Globes. There’s virtually no proper plot line to speak off, and some of the actors can benefit of going to a few acting classes. But man, are they HOT or what?! When you sit down to watch a movie like Magic Mike XXL you know exactly what you’re getting yourself into. Hot guys, performing hot dance routines, to a killer soundtrack, in all sorts of exotic and strange locations.

Strangely enough, the movie was more about male bonding than anything else. They wanted to show us that even the sexy male strippers of the world can have self-image and body issues and you end up feeling sorry for the hot guy that can’t seduce the girls anymore (?!). Thankfully Magic Mike XXL never takes itself very seriously and you can see the tongue-in-the-cheek humour of it all.

Magic Mike XXL is a movie that is perfect for a hot summer night’s entertainment, especially if you need a catch-up with your girlfriends after the Christmas holidays, over a few cocktails and treats. The soundtrack is KILLER and the guys are hot. What more does us girls need from a movie?? Enjoy!

Likes

  • Did I mention the KILLER soundtrack and dance moves on this movie?!
  • Tons of eye-candy for us girls

Dislikes

  • Unfortunately there’s no proper story line to this movie. They seem to depend heavily on the looks of the actors to pull this cart through the water and it doesn’t quite get there.
  • It doesn’t even come close to the entertainment powerhouse that was Magic Mike
