Lego games are always fun, and you know what you are getting, a cool quirky story, lots of stage replaying and recently some open world free play. With Lego DC Super-Villains I didn’t expect what I got…
Lego DC Super-Villains is the first Lego games that focuses on the villains for a change and as you progress with the story you will come to learn why, and it will all make sense. It is a welcome change from the hero side and gives you a bit more insight into the live of these DC villains, what they need to deal with, their thought processes and maybe even why they do what they do.
The thing that blindsided me was the fact that you create your own Super-Villain in the beginning of the story and your character plays a unique role in the story. Some might say that they actually want to play as their iconic Super-villain, but fret not, as you still get to play with them all and everyone plays a part in this setting. The custom character creation really got me soaked into this game and as you progress further into the story you will unlock more customizable options and powers.
The story starts with your character where you are being transferred to Stryker’s Island in Metropolis, you were captured breaking into Commissioner Gordon’s office. At the prison, Gordon enlists the aid of Lex Luther and reveals that you are able to absorb super powers. This is where the story starts to unfold with Mercy Graves breaking Lex and you out of prison. I do not want to spoil the story so will leave things here.
As you play, you will visit some iconic locations and places in the DC universe like Gotham, Metropolis, OA, Apokolips and there are even appearances form other Earths like Earth 3.
The gameplay is relatively the same as other Lego games with some improvements and you can also play the entire game in Co-Op as well. It is nice to see that they are trying new things with the Lego video games and hopefully we will see some more in new releases.
The Custom character really sets this Lego game apart for me from all the others and it being about the Super-Villains also adds to it. This is definitely a Lego game that gamers should be interested in and add to their collection.
