Rico Rodriguez is back in Just Cause 3 to cause some chaos in Medici and help the rebels overthrow the dictator General Sebastiano Di Ravello. Just Cause 3 takes place years after Just Cause 2 in Rico’s hometown Medici. He gets reunited with old friends and colleagues and meet some new ones as well.
Just Cause 3 has all the favourite gadgets of Rico from Just Cause 2 that we have come to love, but there are some new ones that he gets to add to his arsenal and the most famous one is the Wingsuit. Doing combos with the Grappling hook, parachute and wingsuit will make you cross distances and perform amazing stunts that even Batman will be jealous of.
Just Cause 3 is played in an open world environment, the focus on the chaos and exaggerated physics are also present again and just adds such flavour to the game. Some changes that were made is that currency was dropped completely and you can now deploy a rebel drop. You order weapons, equipment and vehicles vie the Rebel Drop menu, throw a beacon at certain designated spots and voila! You have an instant new array of arsenal.
One of the many fun things about Just Cause is the grappling hook. In Just Cause 3 you can Tether objects together with the hook, pulling reeling them in to cause damaged, destroy or kill them. It’s just so much fun tethering an NPC character to something and yanking them toward the object, and then you can get creative with explosives, vehicles and so much more! I can sit for hours just causing mayhem via tethering (Insert Evil Laugh Here)
Multiplayer has been dropped where only challenge and leaderboard scores are now shared with the online community. The studio stated that they decided to rather concentrate on delivering a better game than to divide up their resources. Personally I think it was a wise decision to make as now they have a great game on their hands and do not have to stress to compete with the massive amount of multiplayer games out there, player can just enjoy this game and have a fun time doing it.
Just Cause 3 looks good and the scenery has the feeling and look of the theme they wanted to go for, for Medici. There is nothing spectacular about the music but there is also nothing wrong with it. The dialogues are funny but pushes the “over the top” boundary at certain times.
A lot of your time will be spent taking over towns and partaking in challenges. To take over a town for the rebellion you have to destroy and do certain tasks. This can be destroying billboards, blowing up a statue, defeat a target and so forth. As you take over more town more missions and challenges will be available to play and some more items will also become available for a rebel drop.
Just Cause 3 is just plain fun! It is the type of game you can just put on and play anytime of the day or night. I really enjoyed this title and will be doing some more crazy stunts with Rico very soon… maybe in a few minutes… okay maybe now (Turns on PS4)
