I’m Quitting Heroing: Next Gig Is at the Demon Queen’s Castle Review

. I’m Quitting Heroing, also known as Yuusha, Yamemasu, is an anime series by EMT Squared and is based off the Japanese light novel series written by Quantum and illustrated by Hana Amano. It was published by Fujimi Shobo with three volumes since December 2017 under their Kadokawa Books imprint. The anime series consists of 12 episodes of 23 minutes each.

Starting with the narrative I wouldn’t say there is anything particularly special about this anime, with all the Isekai and fantasy adventure series we have currently, this anime has reused a lot of elements although instead of following the typical “reborn in a different world” idea they’ve changed the concept to “I’ve lived 5000 years and your world is very different from what the world was back then.” Having said this the story is still fun to follow as the main character Leo arrives at Demon Queen Echidna’s interview for employment in her demon army. Leo is rejected by her as he is the sole reason, she’s needing to make new appointments within her army, and naturally, as her enemy, she strongly dislikes him. Leo finds a way through Echidna’s assistant who is also one of her generals to earn his way into the army by building trust and having the whole group of generals vouch for him to convince Echidna to employ him.

I enjoyed the “real workplace” crossover following the narrative of how Leo finds solutions to the “Human Resource Management” problems that Echidna is experiencing through the employees of her army. A lot of his mentality and theory are legitimate and consistent with the real-world workplace and just makes sense. The narrative thus follows Leo and how he wins over each general and forms a bond with them through his working to help them and their individual situations.

The narrative provides us with some insight into Leo’s past and what he has experienced over the many years that he has lived and how this has paved the way to who and where he is in the present day. We see the group faced with some tough choices towards the ending of the series and the narrative becomes quite sad and serious, but Leo’s hard work pays off and everyone acting on their true feelings (and not what they think is best suited for each other) win in the end, bringing the story to a happy conclusion.

As I said previously this anime wasn’t anything spectacular but was still fun to watch. It allows some real connection with its characters in a short space of time which was enjoyable and is a great way to pass some time and relax.

I'm just the unappreciated mom of the party, base CHAD healer, here to kiss the job potion summoner's booboos and make them better, because I'm too angry to learn anything else and I won't let the DPS die, but I will let them panic at the disco a little bit.
