Ghost in the Shell is taken from the 1995 Anime that made waves when it was initially released and then turned into a whole series. It was very popular and it gave birth to exciting ideas and even some movies you might recognise like The Matrix trilogy.

I was very excited to see this movie as I was a big fan of the Anime back when along with Ninja Scroll. Before we went to go and see it, I re-watched the 1995 Anime just to have it fresh in my brain and it was worth it as I could see the small differences and how excellent they made this movie.

The cinematography was amazing for the movie, some scene looked like it was taken straight out of the Anime and some scene will give you goose bumps just with simple moves or glimpses. The CGI is crazy insane how effective it is and creating this futuristic world.

Scarlett Johansson’s role as Major/Motoko is out of this world, the way she displays her body language, the way she walks and sometimes just the way she stands just brings this character to life. Pilou Asbæk plays Batou, and also does a brilliant job with the role. You might know him better for his role in Game of Thrones as Euron Greyjoy. My wife actually mentioned what a great Cable he would make for Marvel (hint hint).

There is quite a major change in the ending of the movie but you can see that they are leaving it open to go further with the movie franchise, which would be amazing! After the movie I could not stop talking about it, I could not stop thinking about it and was just overall very satisfied with how it turned out.

A brilliant take on the Ghost in The Shell Anime and maybe a brilliant start to a movie franchise, I urge any fan to go and watch the movie, and it definitely needs to be seen in IMAX 3D.
