Who does not love scaring their loved ones to the point of a heart attack. Well sit them right in front of a computer, switch off the lights and wait to laugh as they scream and almost destroy your computer from the jump scares of Five Nights at Freddy’s.
Five nights at Freddy’s was created by Scott Cawthon. The game is the first of a series that continued for another 7 games, being FNAF 2, FNAF 3, FNAF 4, FNAF: Sister Location, Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria and FNAF World. It has also influenced many fan games, which a few are rather good. The characters are the cornerstones of the game, being lead by the title character Freddy Fazbear. The other three main recurring cast are Bonnie, Chica and Foxy, however there are more characters who show up throughout the 7 games, however these 4 will remain the cornerstones of the franchise.
The look is very close to a normal horror game, a darkish room, ominous music and odd scary sounds made at the worst moments. The game play is very basic, you don’t even move. The player stays in the one room looking at cameras, trying to keep blood thirsty animatronics from getting into your room to kill you. That being said the game is very addictive, no matter how much of a risk it is to your computer monitor. It also gives those who complete the game bragging rights over the wimps, myself included, who did not complete the game.
While I am not a big fan of the horror genre, this game is definitely worth the play. Or if you don’t want to play a game that you need to wear your brown pants for, you can always put your friends, family or significant other in front of the game and laugh your head off as they jump out of their socks.
