PES has always been known as the other football game and they have been working hard to compete on a level where they can be seen as a close competitor. I thought they did a great job last year and with PES 2020 I think they are coming even closer. A lot of gameplay changes has been made and on top of that they have also secured more licensing than ever before which is great to see.

Let’s talk a bit about some of the new gameplay features. First we have the new intelligent system of how players react to an approaching ball. There are various trapping techniques you can use and then kick accuracy has also been drastically improve and will also depends on the posture of the player. There are a ton of improvements made on animation of players that makes the game more realistic than ever.

For games modes we have the improved Master League with better Manager models and in-between game cinematics. The interactive dialogue system will allow you to better control what happens. Performances now effects your fan base as a manager and will affect if you get other offers. Match Day mode is a new mode to capture the biggest matches and best rivalries in Football, you will work together with other players to build an advantage ahead of the grand final. Each group match will count toward your side and the best performers will get the opportunity to represent your side in the grand final. myClub also has some changes making it better than before. You will now get clearer insight on the stat screen about players and all players will start out at a level 1. Featured players will also include National team players.

The new menu design looks cool and has an integrated guide that will assist you on where to go or what to check out. The tutorial and tips are great quick references to assist you when you need it and can be quick to get to what you need.

I love all the improvements overall and the end result is a more solid PES game. It still has the more arcade feel to it with a balance of more advanced gameplay features that you can use to give you an edge. The new trapping controls will take some time getting used to but can help a lot with tougher opponents. eFootball PES 2020 is a solid and great football game that will keep you busy for the next year if that is what you like but also caters for the gamer that enjoys playing a soccer game every now and then.
