Just short of a year after the release of Dishonored 2 and we get “honored” with another release Dishonored: Death of the Outsider. First thoughts were that this would be an expansion but think again…
Dishonored: Death of the Outsider is a stand-alone game in the series and follows after the events of Dishonored 2. You play as Billie Lurk, and at the start you are on the hunt for your old mentor Daud. Once you find and rescue him form the Eyeless the story really starts to unfold.
I didn’t get the chance yet to play Dishonored 2, so I was very eager to play Death of the Outsider. The Dishonored series has created this great and interesting steampunk universe, where there is a mix of technology, magic and machinery. I found this world very intriguing and wanted to find out more about it and for Bethesda giving us a whole new story just short of a year after the big game that was Dishonored 2 just shows how much more there is to show and tell about this universe.
Once again you can use gadgets and gear to give yourself an edge in the game along with your supernatural abilities. In this game, you get to start using your powers fairly early in the game, just after the first mission do you unlock Semblance and Displace, which you that have played Dishonored should know about.
I found it cool that you get optional contracts in missions to do extra stuff for extra rewards. It is always a bonus to have optional things to do in a game, it doesn’t force gamers that just want to play the story to do thing that prolongs the end for them and for the other gamer who like to explore it gives the extra needed things for them to do.
As I said above the world of Dishonored is very interesting but it also looks great at the same time, the detail on scenery is great and there are small intricacies that just make the world so much lush full. The game is not as jam packed as Dishonored 2 but it is also not a full game’s price.
Dishonored: Death of the Outsider is a cool game, and definitely a must play if you are a fan of the stealth genre. Steampunk lovers will fall in love and probably spend hours just exploring this world. Definitely a must play game!
