Imagine that you have this monster in you and for some unknown reason this monster was let loose on the world, well you don’t have to imagine it just go have a look at the new Colossal movie and you will see the Butterfly effect somebody’s actions has on the world around you.
Anne Hathaway plays Gloria, now Gloria is a bit of a drinker and parties a lot! It got so bad that her boyfriend(played by Dan Stevens) had to let her go. So Gloria moves back to her hometown, where she meets up with her Childhood friend(played by Jason Sudeikis) Oscar who runs the Local Bar and gives her a job there. But when she looks at the news(after her booze-filled evening), she sees that Seoul was attacked by a Colossal monster. She starts to realise that she controls this monster and this is where the “fun” begins.
As she shows off her new found “power” to her friends, they soon realise that Oscar also has the same power(he becomes a Colossal Robot). But you see Oscar is a jealous friend, thinking that Gloria had a thing with there another friend. Things start to heat up between Gloria and Oscar.
Overall I really loved the movie and the whole premises of it. You can watch it just for the fun of it or you can read into the deeper meaning of the people’s actions. The acting is really good and the chemistry between the two lead actors is great. You might think of the movie as just an Action/SciFi movie but it has deeper meanings that come through it when you watch it. I would recommend this movie to everybody that likes a good movie and loves to think a little deeper about the meaning in movies. This is your local mad scientist signing out…I wonder what Mr Robotic Twinkeltoes is doing today
