If you grew up in the arcade era then you will most definitely know Bubble Bobble. The game was great fun especially playing it with a friend, blowing bubbles, trapping enemies and trying to survive. Now we have Bubble Bobble 4 Friends that is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch.

Not much has change in the base of the gameplay with Bubble Bobble 4 Friends, but now you can play up to four players locally. As an extra reward you also get access to the original Bubble Bobble arcade game. Take on the 100 plus levels by yourself or co-op with your friends, any way you want to enjoy this new adventure of the little dragons.

As you progress with the gameplay you start to unlock special bubbles for your characters that can boost your gameplay. These power-up bubbles come in very useful but be aware that the ammo is limited. The ammo can be replenished by doing certain tasks though.

The game looks cool with the modern graphics and the developers really brought new life to these loveable characters. New stage layouts and different themes adds a lot of variance to the game.

It is a fairly simple game so do not expect something with lots of upskilling and gameplay expansion but what this game has a lot of is fun! The 4 player co-op ability is a great addition and ties in well with the name of the title as well.

I was a huge fan of Bubble Bobble in the arcades and probably spend some amounts of Rands on the game until I could enjoy it on the classic console. Now having a new title to enjoy and bringing some nostalgia flair with it, I can’t ask for anything more.

Bubble Bobble 4 Friends is a great arcade game to enjoy either by yourself or with some co-op partners. The game is a bit pricey, coming in at 40 Euros, meaning it will cost us about R650. It would’ve been more appealing if it was around R400. With this said it is still a great game to play!
