“AT SUNDOWN™ is a hide-and-seek shooter where the maps are covered in darkness and light is your enemy, as 4 players compete in a deathmatch to be the best! Strategic gameplay is vital in the shadows of this dark world in which you only become visible when you shoot, dash or slash. See or be seen, kill or be killed. How long will you survive At Sundown?”

At sundown takes what we know as a classic top down shooter and turns it into something special. With a twist on your normal top down 80% of the map you cannot see, yes you cannot even see yourself so you have to navigate with your gut. You can request a ping to find out where you are but that just spoils the fun right?

With your main aim of the game being kill or be killed what better way than to try and stalk your opponents from the dark (but don’t stalk too long as a spotlight will hit you if you stay undercover for too long), that’s if you have an idea of where they are. Each shot you take, sprint you make or each roll you do shows you on the map and that is when the chaos starts. Bullets flying everywhere and everybody just races for the top spot on the leaderboard. This is deathmatch at its best. Will you make the first shot blindly or will you wait patiently for the perfect moment to strike? Play with 4 friends online or get your practice in with offline matches against bots (and yes these are not easy bots)

The game pace varies and that is what makes at Sundown so special. You can jump in a match where everything is slow and everybody tries to be all sneaky sneaky where the next game is absolute chaos with bullets flying everywhere. The game takes a couple of rounds to get use to and to get your feel on the maps, to learn how to time your walks in the dark to avoid getting stuck in a corner and being blasted by a random stray shotgun shell. The weapon range is fantastic and it covers from your pistols to shotgun to sniper to melee, just what any player needs to suit their game style. There are also special drops that’s spawns at random times to provide you with powerful buffs and weapons. But again this has to be thought through as most of the time everybody rushes for these and it just turns out in a bloodbath.

Overall at Sundown is more fun than I expected. The gameplay is super relaxed and you don’t have to worry about your “rank” being destroyed if you get annihilated in a match. It is great time spent with friends or making new friends and have a laugh over simple mistakes or random lucky shots. The game is easy to master and anyone can enjoy it. Do yourself the favour and give this a go as it will keep you coming back for more and more
