Ridley Scott returns to this much anticipated Aliens origin storyline, following Prometheus with Alien Covenant. Katherine Waterston tries to hold on to the role of main lead character however ends up playing support cast to Michael Fassbender as he steals the show with his memorable dialogue and performances.

The colony ship Covenant is bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, members of the crew are made up of couples eager to start settling on a new world when they discover what they think to be an uncharted paradise after intercepting a faded transition.

While exploring the fertile planet which seems devoid of life, they meet David played by Michael Fassbender the synthetic survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. The mysterious world soon turns dark and dangerous when a hostile alien life-form forces the crew into a deadly fight for survival.

I found the movie a refreshing return to heart of what made the original Alien movies a success in terms of atmosphere, characters, plot devices and of course using actual xenomorphs. If you already an Alien fan, then no convincing needed. This movie has reinvigorated the franchise which I am glad to say is back on its path after the tangent taken with Prometheus.
