3D NAND flash is here and the Adata SD700 external SSD drive is using this technology to achieve some super speeds. The SD700 takes big external SSD storage to the next level.

So, what is 3D NAND? This replaces the 2D NAND technology, meaning that it delivers higher density, increased reliability, and better power efficiency. This make the drive capable of read and write speeds of up to 440 MB/s which is incredible.

Apart from this internal change, the external shell also makes a big difference. With a protective shell, the drive passes the IEC IP68 spec making it dust proof and your can leave it in 1.5m deep water for up to 60 minutes.

The drive is easy to carry around with its small size of +/- 8cm squared. You can get it in black or yellow in colour and it comes in sizes of 256GB, 512GB and 1TB. The only downside is the price that is a bit steep, with the 256GB starting at about R3000.

Here is a little video I did:

The Adata SD700 is an awesome external drive and definitely a must have investment for the active person needing some external storage. The price is still very high for this new technology, but I do love this drive and will not go anywhere without it.
