In a world where you can’t always carry your notebook with you or your tablet just doesn’t have the oomph to get the job done, this is where Acer‘s Switch Alpha 12 2-in-1 notebook comes in handy. This little beauty of a machine comes in a brushed aluminium finish that would fit in at any work place. The kickstand for the Acer Switch Alpha 12 is made out of the same aluminium and is rubberized to make sure that your Notebook stay’s in it’s place on your desk. You can move the kickstand up to 165° degrees, this would make sure that you can always get the perfect viewing angle. I love the fact that the screen is an IPS screen!

The reason why I love the IPS feature is that you can use the notebook (let’s say you are a photographer) to display the photo shoot that you just did. What also helps in this specific situation is that the Acer Switch Alpha 12 runs Windows 10 Pro(that also means you can run Adobe Photoshop on it). Quick edits can be done on it with the help of the Acer Active Stylus(unfortunately you have to buy this separately).

The brains of the Acer Switch Alpha 12 is an Intel i5-6200U 2.3GHz Dual Core processor. You would think that a Laptop/Notebook processor normally has a massive heatsink on it to keep it nice and cool, but where in this 1.5cm chassis are you going to fit this? Well, the guys over at Acer did something really unique with the Switch Alpha 12….they made it freaking liquid cooled(they call it Fan-less Acer LiquidLoop)! Yes, you read right. This helps the Notebook run as smooth as butter. To match the CPU that Acer put into the Switch Alpha 12 they paired it with 8GB of DDR3 ram and a good 256GB SSD.

Now your question would be can you run games on the notebook? Well yes, you can but I won’t be expecting any demanding games like The Witcher 3 or so to do so well. The reason for this is that Acer used Intel’s HD Graphics 520 processor. This would be fine for Minecraft and some of the older games(always check the games specs). The Acer Switch Alpha 12 is made more for the creative or business person.

Overall I was pleased with the graphics performance for photo editing and the Drawing capabilities of the Stylus(this stylus has 1024 pressure sensitivity). I would recommend the Acer Switch Alpha 12 to most creative or business people. I do feel a bit bummed that the stylus is not included with the purchase, but can quickly be remedied. This is your local mad scientist signing out….time to start drawing the plans for the Death Star 4.0.
