Just when you thought you have seen the last version of Street Fighter 2 then Nintendo and Capcom hits us with a cool classic with a little twist, hence, Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers.
First-off, it is very cool to play such a classic game on a new console that is perfectly made for classic and arcade games like this. The two joy-cons instantly give you a 2 player options anywhere and everywhere.
This version is taken from Super Street Fighter II Turbo. There are two graphical styles to play in. Classic which has the classic pixel art look and New Generation, which has a modern HD look of 2008’s Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.
There are nineteen characters in this version, with Violent Ken and Evil Ryu. This is the first appearance on a Street Fighter game for Violent Ken and Akuma is no longer a hidden character.
There is a new game mode called “Way of the Hado”, in this first-person camera mode you take control of Ryu, defeating as many Shadaloo Soldiers as possible. In this mode, you hold the Joy-Con in both hands performing moves like “Hadouken”, “Tatsumaki Senpukyaky” and “Shoryuken”.
There are tons of other modes to keep you bust and enjoy the game. Online and offline multiplayer modes will keep you fighting against your friends for a long time and last but not least there is a gallery containing over 1400 images from an Artbook.
There is nothing more to say from me as everyone should’ve played a version of Street Fighter 2 before. This game needs to be in any player’s arsenal of games, it is an instant classic and a game that we will always return to as one of the “forefathers” of the fighting genre.
