Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) will return for a 2nd season in the spring of 2016 and there is a very strong likelihood that the girl of steel will not be returning alone thanks to her new network home in the US.
Season 1 premièred last October on the CBS network to phenomenal ratings success and positive reception. And while ratings declined as the season progressed – as generally tends to happen more often than not – they remained strong enough to warrant a renewal for Season 2.
Arguably the most popular episode of the season came in the form of a crossover with CW’s The Flash, played by Grant Gustin.
It is likely because of the subsequent ratings boost that co-owners of CW, CBS, decided to shift Supergirl across networks. The implications of this have fans excited, as CW is home to series based on other DC heroes: ‘Arrow’, ‘The Flash’ and DC’s ‘Legends of Tomorrow’; all of which exist in the same shared fictional universe and function cohesively together. Supergirl was able to feature The Flash due to the latter characters ability to travel to parallel universes with his trademark speed.
With Supergirl finding a new home at the CW for Season 2, it is very likely we will see more crossovers and interactions with not only the Flash, but also The Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) and the cast of ‘DC’s Legend of Tomorrow’.
Supergirl Season 2 will most likely air on Vuzu on DSTV later this year, or might also shift to Vuzu Amp to join Arrow and The Flash.
