Following directly on the trail of Sniper Elite 3, Sniper Elite 4 brings us back into the action with Karl Fairburne. Sniper Elite 4 takes place in Italy 1943.
The Sniper Elite series is known for the X-Ray kill cam system, where on certain shots the camera will follow the bullet to the target where it will show the target’s body parts, bones or organs being ruptured by the shot. Now the system has been expanded to include stealth, melee and shrapnel kills.
A big improvement in number 4 is the AI. The enemy now reacts quicker and more intelligently than before, when spotted, reinforcements will be called in and you will be rushed so no trying to just hide and take everyone out.
The game also looks great and the maps are much bigger than in number 3. You have a lot more freedom on the map and you can easily spend more than 2 hours on a single mission. You can select your loadout before starting a mission, in the beginning this is very limited but as you progress you can buy additional weapons and arsenal. With each gun, you can now work to upgrade it by performing certain tasks with the weapon. For instance, if you make 10 Grenade on belt kills with a certain rifle it will upgrade the stability. When a gun is fully upgraded then you can master the weapon by completing a final task.
Cooperative missions and multiplayer has been reintroduced. You can play the whole campaign with a friend or play other cop-op modes that supports up to 4 players. Multiplayer gets 6 modes to play with up to 12 Players to join in the mayhem.
The missions are very interesting and I’m enjoying the game thoroughly, a great stealth shooter to start 2017 off with.
