The Smurfs are back in this animated, all-new take on the Smurfs with insights on the female character in the bunch, which as you know is Smurfette. That’s right, fully animated not a hybrid of live action with animation but actually focusing on the characters without the need to bring them into the real world. If that was not enough, the movie also promises to uncover the biggest secret in Smurf history.

The best of friends Smurfette (Demi Lovato), Brainy (Danny Pudi), Clumsy (Jack McBrayer) and Hefty (Joe Manganiello) use a special mysterious map that guides them through the Forbidden Forest, an enchanted wonderland that’s filled with magical creatures. Their adventure leads them on a course to discover the biggest secret in Smurf history as they race against time and the evil wizard Gargamel (Rainn Wilson) to find a mysterious village.

Loved the quality of the animation, found it better than their live action movie and this style really suits the characters. Finally you can experience the unique personalities of the Smurfs without the human actors trying to take away screen time. The environment is colourful and plays an additional character in the story. Goes without saying that its colour soaked canvas will distract your kids for an hour and a half. Parents will also enjoy, as the adults are the ones who actually grew up with these familiar characters and will be pleased that the movie stays true to the characters.
