Resident Evil returns with its latest instalment called Biohazard. The developers made a huge change and took the game series back to its roots of a Survival Horror genre and it works!!
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard goes to a First Person view genre together with going back to the original game style genre and they have managed to deliver one of the best story games I have played recently.
I’m not a huge Horror fan per say but I could not put this game down and if I wasn’t playing it I was planning to when I can play again. In the beginning the game grasps you because you want to find out what is going on and then you can’t stop playing as you want to see what happens next.
You play as Ethan Winters travelling to a mysterious farm in Dulvey Louisiana to look for Mia, his girlfriend that went missing for 3 years. This is where things start to get weird, you go into the weird looking farm house surrounded by swamp lands. The house is deserted and looks very creepy and deserted. You come upon a video tape and when you watch it you start to realise that this place is not safe and something strange is going on. Further than this you should discover for yourself…
The main characters are superb as you grow to love/hate them form early on and it definitely adds to the deliverance of the story.
When the Resident Evil series got fame and the movies based on the series also got a fan base, the games grew into a more action adventure game where the hero will be like a super soldier blasting through hordes of zombies. The decision to go back to the Survival Horror genre was a sure win as not many games do it well these days but Resident Evil 7 does it just right. Taking the gameplay to a First-Person view adds to the success and with the added VR support for the PS4 it will have people shaking in their boots.
Look & Feel:
The game looks amazing and the controls fit the theme and makes it feel more real. At points in the game you will cringe at things happening as the graphics are so good. Yes, some things go beyond the norm but it is all part of the series and everything ties in well to deliver a fantastic game that will entertain even the non-gamer.
Doing a lot of reviews, I do not always get a chance to finish games that I play but luckily it is still quiet so early in the year and I could not put this game down. All I wanted to do was finish it and see how the story ends. There are a couple of twists at the end that will make you go OMG and “I knew it”. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard delivers far more than what I expected and is definitely the first must have game for 2017.
