Thousands of years after the first instalment, Nier: Automata lets you take control of combat androids from YoRHa.

I missed out on the first game when it came out in 2010 so was quite eager to get my hands on Nier: Automata. I have to admit that the title did fly under the radar for me. This titles takes place thousands of years after the first game like we stated above and it shares a post-apocalyptic setting to that of the fourth ending of the first game, yes, it is a bit confusing but with this game you might get a few confusing times. Not bad ones just ones that will leave you stumped for a bit and then “Ok” let’s carry on.

You play as 2B a female combat android and accompanied by 9S a reconnaissance android with some little twerks in his emotion. The characters are very interesting and you want to find out more of who they are and what happens to them.

With 2B you set out on missions to help local resistance rid places of machines that has gone out of control or rogue and of course there are a few twists and turns that get thrown into the curve.

It is an Action RPG game with some little differences to the norm. It plays very well and the gameplay is extremely smooth. At points in the game your view will change from 3rd person perspective to side scroller or top down view and it does this brilliantly.

The games also looks beautiful with its post-apocalyptic machine feel and then having this lush-full nature peeking it’s head out of places. The audio is good, the music might not be for everyone but definitely fits the theme.

If you Love Anime, Action RPG or androids then this needs to be in your scope. Nier Automata is a title that crept up to me and now has a full grasp on my heart. The story somehow grabs me and just pulls me deeper and deeper into the game.
