Ever wandered what it would be like to play a game that customized you as a character as well as all your friend. Well… look no further.
Nintendo created Miitopia so that you can do just that. They give you the platform and the basics. They provide you with a story line, the good guys and the bad guy, but you need to create your character, the people who will help you and the villain.
With the 3DS – street pass features you can also invite other people to join your game. If you don’t want to create all your characters from scratch you have the option to select from a list of pre-created characters and use characters created by other players.
When building your character/s you get to choose not only their look but their power and personality too. I am a wizard and it is awesome.
Now for the gameplay – the story is about this evil dark lord who steals peoples face… yes, I know, at first, I too thought that the concept was weird, but, it does set the mood of this odd but funny game. Your task is to save the land by defeating the Dark lord (I called him Pretzel) and all his monsters. You must defeat the monsters to free the faces because the monsters wear the peoples’ faces. By defeating them you set the faces free and they float back to their rightful owners.
Along the way you will encounter new characters and gain new powers. You will have characters join your quest as your monsters become more difficult to defeat and on each level, you will need to recuperate so Inns have been strategically placed for you to get a good night sleep and eat some tasty food to build those health points.
Some of your levels require you to choose a path, I usually go with the one less travels, but you might feel different when you have reached that point.
The graphics are not exactly new Zelda standard but for what the game represents and the feel that Nintendo was going for it is perfect.
I am thoroughly enjoying the game and will continue playing it to the end. So, go and get your copy and battle those funny faced monsters to your hearts content.
