GES Presents the Geekfest 2016 Cosplay Contest #GESGeekfestCosplay

Yes it’s true!! We can finally officially announce that yours truly, GES, is hosting the annual Geekfest Cosplay Contest in 2016!!

Geekfest has become synonymous with awesome and out of the box cosplay so naturally we jumped at the opportunity to host the annual cosplay contest, when it was presented to us. We are bringing some exciting changes to the contest but we’re also keeping your favorite features from the previous years.

The cosplay contest will run over two days with judging taking place on both Saturday and Sunday. Cosplayers will be able to choose their preferred day for their judging time slot but this can only be done on a first come, first serve basis. You will only have to line-up for your judging time slot 30 minutes before the actual time which means you’ll be free to browse the Geekfest stalls at your own time.

We will have an official skit category which will take place during our main stage show on the Sunday afternoon. The cosplay contest awards will be presented during the same event.

One of the most entertaining features of Geekfest over the years have been the Pets Cosplay. We are definitely continuing this tradition during Geekfest 2016 with a stage show on Saturday 7 May.

Another crowds favorite has always been the kiddies cosplay which we’ve renamed “Cosplay Padawans”. This contest will also take place on the Saturday and will be a more relaxed version of our Youth category in the official Cosplay Contest with the winner being determined via crowd participation. Entries for both the Pets Cosplay and Cosplay Padawans (open to kiddies 10 years and younger) can be made at the event on the Saturday morning.

Regular updates will be posted as we finalize more and more details, such as who will serve on the judging panel as well as prizes and sponsors. Cosplayers, you can start working on your costumes and skits, we will ready to host even a bigger number of entries than in the past!

About Linda Jager

Linda Jager
I’m proudly Geek and have a passion for all things pop-culture. Huge fan of The Walking Dead. Lover of gadgets and technology and although I’m not a gamer (sadly no hand-eye co-ordination) I find myself drawn to the gaming culture and community and how it connects with one of my biggest passions – collecting action figures and statues. I love to watch movies and series and there’s nothing better than having conversations with other people about the things I feel so passionately about. Being an 80’s child I am a huge fan of retro stuff and my Thundercats collection is one of my most prized possessions. That, and my A-Team van. Follow me on Twitter @LindaAtGES
