4X Strategy is one of my favourite genres, but there are some thin lines of it becoming too much or to monotonous. Endless Space has a great trend going and with Endless Space 2 we hope that they built event further on the success.
Endless Space 2 delivers from the beginning, it looks amazing and it doesn’t just look like an upgrade. The graphics is amazing and the ability to go from planet view up to the entire galaxy.
When you start you have the ability to either start the Tutorial that is is a play as you learn or you can take it on yourself without the tutorial. The Tutorial is great to see what has changed or if you are new to 4x Strategy games. Sometimes the tutorial doesn’t go to a next step and if you are new to the genre then you might feel a bit lost but you will find your way soon enough.
There are some very interesting races for you to choose from and each with their own pros and cons. The easiest is always to start with humans if you are new. Ship building has also been improved and made better. You can better see how to equip your ship and build better ships. Research is also key in a 4x strategy game, the research tree is broken in 4 quadrants where you need to expand your knowledge. The recommendations that you receive on what to research next is also a lot better and more relevant.
Overall the game gives you more information on hand in every aspect, in quests, research popups or events. In everyone there is relevant information and you can quickly go to the related screen or place to take action.
I’m enjoying Endless Space 2 thoroughly and I love that it is a game that you can play while binge watching a series or have half your attention elsewhere.
